Reblog of the day

Mundabor's Blog

If there was any need to persuade ourselves that the perception of Christianity is fading away in large parts of the Christian world, the writer Anne Rice and many bloggers around have given us another convincing example.

Some days ago, Ms. Rice decided that she is “quitting Christianity in the name of Christ”. Please don’t laugh. Her lines are amusing, so I do not want to deprive you of this little diversion:

Today I quit being a Christian. I’m out. I remain committed to Christ as always but not to being ‘Christian’ or to being part of Christianity. It’s simply impossible for me to ‘belong’ to this quarrelsome, hostile, disputatious, and deservedly infamous group. For ten years, I’ve tried. I’ve failed. I’m an outsider. My conscience will allow nothing else.”

At school we would have been asked: “what does the author want to say?”. She wants to say that she…

  1. I don’t want to be judgemental here but I read of her convertion and it didn’t settle well with me at the time. Whatver you want to call it, an insight by the Holy Spirit as I usually trust and I’m very happy with most people’s journey to the faith.

From what she is saying here is that she Likes Jesus but doesn’t want to change to follow the laws of God that he teaches. Jesus didn’t mention Sodomy speccifically but he said “as in the days of Noah and Sodom etc” and he always told us to follow the Biblical laws laid down in the Holy Hebrew Scriptures…..he just didn’t like the extra laws that the Pharisees were putting on people to make SURE they didn’t disobey the Biblical laws as they were extra burdensome.

I have a brother who is like this. Raised in a Christian home and left the church years ago. Now that he is in his 50’s he’s starting to think of Christ again but he says “I JUST CLAIM JOHN 3:16″……yet he smokes pot, gets drunk and swears like a sailor and posts pictures of playboy and Victoria’s secret even though he is married.

When you try to share with these people out of love and in a very loving manner that Christ wanted us to change directions from our sins and to live a HOLY life…..they don’t want to hear about it as they really don’t want to give up their sins.

We must never give up on them but must ask for more patience, stand our ground in what scripture and the Church teaches and show boy example………AND PRAY FOR THEM! Their souls are at risk of hellfire eternally!

    • Elizabeth, you must be American? 😉

On this blog we don’t use words like “judgemental” unless in an ironic context 😉

The Rice woman is so wrong, and so deluded, I am ashamed for her and for her pervert son. But the biggest scandal is that she tries to pass her own delusion as some sort of “real Jesus” detached from Christianity.

Once again, Catholicism has a solid system of rules, and to be a Catholic means to accept these rules. Not only Jesus is very obviously totally opposed to sodomy (the reference in Matthew about incredulous Capernaum, which will be punished even worse than Sodom; the clear fact he did not come to subvert the Old Law, but to complete it; the fact he founded a Church on Peter, which Church is as clear as one humanly can about the matter) but most importantly for a Catholic the Church says so.

A Catholic does not browse the scriptures to find what suits him, this is what Protestants do. A Catholic is provided with a complete, coherent, granitic system of rules. His role is not to make his own theology, but to learn and accept what the Church says.

All this seems to be beyond the pale of the Rice woman.

Lets’ hope she repents before it’s too late, because not only she is sending herself to hell, but she’s doing her best to have her son give her company.

  2. Yes I am American and we have a word for it here “Cafeteria Catholic” pick and choose what you want from the faith. As a convert I never picked and chose I embraced everything wholeheartedly. If there were a few things that I had a hard time with (the Blessed Mother since I had been raised a Baptist or the idea of pergatory) I just gave it time and prayed and studied and asked God to show me the truth. He is ever faithful when you do this and you end up seeing just how God sees things.

My confessor says it well……I asked him about the conservative Catholics and the Liberal Catholics. He said there IS NO Liberal or Conservative Catholics. You either ARE a Catholic and embrace ALL of the teaching of the church or you are NOT a Catholic!

I pray daily that we will hear more of this and that the ones in authority will actually DO something especially about the public figures like the woman who is the shoe in for being the next major of New York. She is Catholic but is an open Lesbian and just married her lover and is VERY PRO Abortion. She made the statement that “this is MY Church NOT THEIRS and I will GO where I want and DO what I want!”…..really? Let us pray for Cardinal Timothy Dolan for the fight he will have on his hands and also that he will stand up and deny her communion.

    Enough is enough!

    • You see Elizabeth, as long as the Archbishop does not scare the cr*p out of the Catholic vote telling them what will happen if they vote for the disgusting lesbian, we’ll always risk these risks.

It’s time our Catholic prelate show some teeth, nice disagreement is not enough anymore.

      P.s. congratulations: you have a good confessor…
