The World Would Love Its Own

If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you. If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

John 15: 18-19

  1. Thank you for this – and have we all seen the front page of “The Catholic Universe” for 2 February 2014? It reads “Francis covered in Glory Again.”
It reads – “It seems the popularity of our Holy Father knows no bounds, after he became the first pontiff to feature on the cover of rock music magazineRolling Stone.”
Do I laugh or cry? This is a major UK Catholic newspaper! It’s embarrassing. I can imaging what Pope St Pius X would be saying………………

  2. The times are so confusing that I can’t understand if you have created the cover of ‘ Vanity fair ‘ by yourself ( if so – ELETTO IN ANTICIPO – Great !! Masterful ! ) or it’s real ! By the way ,
do you know Erri De Luca ? I once read three or four very , very strange pages by him – I even thought it was sort of phanta-religion…. Am I wrong ?

    • It’s real.

Notice in the same cover an interview with Elton John is announced.

I do not know, or do not recall, any Erri De Luca.

If you are properly instructed and something smells bad to you, it is probably because it stinks by itself. I have the pockets full of all those wannabe Catholics who think Catholicism must be reinvented every day. Francis is the most prominent of them, but not the only one.

  3. To think that The Universe has sunk to this low state. They are so pleased by the cover of Rolling Stone. The World loves the Bishop of Rome – enough said.

  4. Don’t forget, he was also voted Best Dressed by GQ Mag…. Kind of like how my brother was voted best dressed in high school…

    • Ha! 😉

It would also have to be explained how he would be dressed better than the decidedly more sartorial Benedict. Unless, of course, being badly dressed has become a virtue.

  5. I’m just waiting for mtv now to honor him. People keep saying that the holy father is being misquoted, but if you keep seeing smoke, eventually you’ll have to agree that there’s a fire.

    • Oh, MTV. Yes, at this point it would make sense.

I am also eagerly awaiting for the public praise of such exemplary ladies like Beyonce and Miley Cyrus.

  6. But no Mr. M, you’ve got it all wrong. Don’t you know that the Liberals have misunderstood Pope Diana…er…I mean Bishop Francis. He’s really a conservative…no really…you know that guy in Australia is still excommunicated. He’s really trying to divide the left so that he can eventually to turn them all into Traditionalists. Didn’t you know that…?
    (sarcasm off)

  7. This post speaks for itself, if the world loves Pope Francis, there’s a problem. Things are not sunshine and rainbows right now, no matter how much the defenders try to save face.

    • The Francis defenders are the same people who barely a year ago were glorying in the fact that all these press outlets openly loathed and attacked Benedict XVI. “See how the world hates God and his Church!” they would say, feeling like holy martyrs. Now that things have changed 180 degrees, they simply refuse to admit it. They still cling to their precious status as victimized outcasts, even though they are now the groupies of a media superstar. They keep coming up with excuses for why they’re now best buddies with “the enemy”: 1) any day now the press with ‘turn on him’, 2) the non-Catholic world only THINKS they’re hearing Francis say they’ve been right all along, 3) the press and the unchurch are ‘listening’ to Francis, so he’ll slip them a Catholic pill when their guard is down and they’ll all become Catholics without noticing.

  8. Ubi Hostia, ibi Ecclesia

A Scriptural Perspective: Gospel According to Saint John Chapter 10
Christ is the door and the good shepherd.

[1] Amen, amen I say to you: He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up another way, the same is a thief and a robber. [2] But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. [3] To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. [4] And when he hath let out his own sheep, he goeth before them: and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice. [5] But a stranger they follow not, but fly from him, because they know not the voice of strangers.

[6] This proverb Jesus spoke to them. But they understood not what he spoke to them. [7] Jesus therefore said to them again: Amen, amen I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. [8] All others, as many as have come, are thieves and robbers: and the sheep heard them not. [9] I am the door. By me, if any man enter in, he shall be saved: and he shall go in, and go out, and shall find pastures. [10] The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I am come that they may have life, and may have it more abundantly.

[11] I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep. [12] But the hireling, and he that is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and flieth: and the wolf catcheth, and scattereth the sheep: [13] And the hireling flieth, because he is a hireling: and he hath no care for the sheep. [14] I am the good shepherd; and I know mine, and mine know me. [15] As the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father: and I lay down my life for my sheep. ….

  9. as for Erri de Luca, above mentioned: he was a very, very leftist (“Lotta continua”), now he’s very New Age…stay away, if you can.
