  1. Maybe , after one year of Pontificate , for once we can say the Bishop of Rome was not very smart. He should have first infiltrated and tried to destroy SSPX from within , and then crash down F.F.I. ( in his own logic , of course ). I’m sure he’s convinced SSPX is the REAL enemy.
    However , two problems probably stopped him. 1) Lack of time when 2) Emeritus Pope Benedict is still alive , and in better shape than foreseen. Yes, F.F.I. are (were) an important symbol for anti-Vatican 2 forces, but Francis’ crashing down somehow backfired , also because of Volpi’s too brutal – even by Italian political standards – and incredibly goofy behavior.

    • I do not think the SSPX can be so easily infiltrated. The contrary is more likely.
      In my eyes, he prefers to crack down on Tradition where he can do so easily (FFI) rather than embark in a difficult, long-term campaign against a formidable opponent like the SSPX.
