Misericordia Et Misera: SSPX Regularised?
I have this from Father Z’s blog. Rorate Caeli also mentions, and confirms the letter will have something about the SSPX in it. As Rorate is clearly well connected to the SSPX one can be sure something is brewing. It’s not clear to me whether the Eponymous Flower has its own sources or is reporting external ones; but clearly, this is more than rumour.
Before anyone panics, let me remind you of this: Bishop Fellay stated in the past that no solution/reconciliation/arrangement would be accepted from the SSPX, that has not been approved by the majority of the SSPX priests.
One can, therefore, be reasonably confident that whilst Francis might have fooled the one or other, he could not have fooled the majority of these good and faithful priests.
We shall see how this pans out. It can be an attempt to prepare a trap. It can also be that starting from last September (when he received the Dubia letter), Francis felt so much in a corner concerning his own orthodoxy that he now has desperate need of conservative credentials. This would, of course, contradict the insults to the supporters of the Traditional Mass made earlier this week. But again, this is Francis for you.
Imagine the irony: a V II Pope compelled to regularise the SSPX to counter accusations of heresy. You couldn’t make it up. Divine Humour at work.
Prayers and confidence in the Divine Providence are in order.

I really do not understand what Francis wants out of this. It seems so completely out of sync with the rest of his pontificate.
If (and it is a big ‘if’) it is what some think it is, it is meant to be a shield against accusations of heresy.
M
What if he invites them in and they accuse him of heresy?
If they are regularised, and have access to all normally available instruments given to them by Canon law (e.g. address a letter to the Pope with dubia), then I think they will *have to* take an official position on his statements. However, I think this is a lesser problem for Francis than his own V II Cardinals.

I have confidence: “As applied to God, Providence is God Himself considered in that act by which in His wisdom He so orders all events within the universe that the end for which it was created may be realized. That end is that all creatures should manifest the glory of God, and in particular that man should glorify Him, recognizing in nature the work of His hand, serving Him in obedience and love, and thereby attaining to the full development of his nature and to eternal happiness in God.”
(When I googled this definition for myself, I saw a Prot website titled “Divine Providence – Is it biblical?” Got a chuckle out of that.)
All of this SSPX business seems to clever by half. SSPX would be wise to keep this wily operator at arms length.
I trust they have done things properly.

Maybe his plan is to create a ghetto for faithful Catholics. With all the rad trads sequestered he figures he can go whole hog creating the globalist counter-church of his dreams. God might have other plans though. A whole legion of hogs drove themselves straight off the cliffs.
The question would be whether the faithful would remain in the ghetto. I doubt they would. We aren’t “conservative” Anglicans, for whom we only thing that count is that their own mickey mouse church carves for them a cosy little space.
“Page 117, of the pope’s book, On Heaven and Earth, in regards to same-sex unions
“If there is a union of a PRIVATE NATURE, THERE IS NEITHER A THIRD PARTY NOR IS SOCIETY AFFECTED. Now, if this union is given the category of marriage and they are given adoption rights, there could be children affected. Every person needs a male father and female mother that can help them shape their identity.” -Jorge Mario Bergoglio
Approval of same-sex sexual unions is approval of same-sex sexual acts.
To deny the Sanctity of the marital act, is to deny that God Is The Author of Love, of Life, and of Marriage.
When we deny that God Is The Author of Love, of Life, and of Marriage, and render onto Caesar, what belongs to God, we deny The Divinity of The Most Holy and Undivided Blessed Trinity and thus we deny Salvational Love, God’s Gift of Grace and Mercy.
A validly elected Pope cannot err in regards to Faith and morals; a validly elected Pope must first and foremost be in communion with Christ and His One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

I attended a conference by Bishop Bernard Fellay last weekend. As I have been a follower of the SSPX for many years, I can say that he sounded much the same as Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre did in the 1980s. In reality, the SSPX holds all of the cards. If they are demanded to do something against the Faith, I’m guessing they’d do what any of the rest of us would do: walk away.
Bishop Fellay turned up to our parish in Bristol (out of the blue) and his homily was an hour long, he talked a bit about Pope Francis and his relationship with SSPX. Fellay said “the man was a mystery.” I felt confident that our good Bishop has it all in hand and was more in control than Francis. Fellay is a very sane, level, intelligent Bishop. Deo Gracias.
I think he was being very, very diplomatic.

Bishop Fellay said Francis doesn’t care about doctrine. Francis judges by smiles and jokes.
