The days are getting longer; and for some, perhaps, warmer.
One feels more encouraged to spend more time outside. The weekend is in front of us.
What a beautiful occasion to remind ourselves to Dump Starbucks this season!
The first weekend of summer has arrived, though from my window I can’t see much of it.
Summer, who has inspired countless poets and filled so many hearts with joy and optimism.
“Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?” the Bard asked some unknown beauty.
We do not know whether the beauty in question liked the comparison, though we are informed she was more lovely and more temperate, and her eternal summer would not fade.
What we know, though, is that the summertime is the perfect time to dump Starbucks, and to give your money to enterprises that do not glorify sexual perversion instead.
Sensible Italians remember today the birth of the second most astonishing phenomenon ever appeared under the Sky (after Jesus and His Church, of course).
The Catholics among the sensible Italians will also know that the First Rome was the instrument chosen by God for the development and spreading of the Second Rome.
As a born Roman, Civis Romanus, I allow myself to feel particularly proud today. Not my merit, I know. But proud nevertheless.
As image for this blog post I have chosen a most impressive symbol of Roman might: the Fasces. As you can see from the image, it was made out of many small rods, all bundled together to form a thick cylinder. This cylinder was then so strong it could be used as support for a weapon, generally an axe.
The first and most cited symbolic meaning of the Fasces is brutally evident: each one as an individual is small; but when put together in close collaboration, the group will be an indestructible, lethal weapon.
Most of my readers are, of course, not born Romans.
How will they celebrate today, then?
I suggest a beautiful way how we can, simple rods as we are, unite in this Spring Sunday in a powerful Catholic Fasces:
Easter Monday is such a beautiful day to make a solemn proposition to dump Starbucks.
1) Log in your Facebook account
2) Find the Starbucks account (extremely easy).
3) Send a very short message: like “forget me as a client as long as you continue to encourage sexual perversion and to attack Christianity”. No gentle words. The brutal truth.
How long will it take? One minute? Ninety seconds?
Hardly ninety seconds, really…
P.s. Thanks RM, text corrected; hopefully right this time…
From the Dump Starbucks website. Emphases mine.
We are urging customers across the globe to ‘Dump Starbucks’ because it has taken a corporate-wide position that the definition of marriage between one man and one woman should be eliminated and that same-sex marriage should become equally ‘normal’. As such, Starbucks has deeply offended at least half its US customers, and the vast majority of its international customers.
On January 24th, 2012, Starbucks issued a memorandum declaring that same-sex marriage ‘is core to who we are and what we value as a company.
Starbucks also used its resources to participate in a legal case seeking to overturn a federal law declaring marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
In many areas of the world where Starbucks does business, the concept of ‘gay marriage’ is unheard of and deeply offensive to cultural, moral and religious values.
In taking these actions, Starbucks has declared a culture war on all people of faith (and millions of others) who believe that the institution of marriage as one man and one woman is worth preserving.
A portion of every cup of coffee purchased at a Starbucks anywhere in the world goes to fund this corporate assault on marriage.
We urge consumers across the globe to join the ‘Dump Starbucks’ campaign.
