Scamdemic Useful For Something At Last

The LA County has urged people not to go knocking on door on Halloween this year.  

It’s because of the scamdemic, you know. You could have an old 88 years, 400 pound diabetic woman with respiratory issues who, on hearing the knock at the door on the evening of the 31 October, thinks: “oopsy-daisy: who ever might be knocking at my door today of all days?” Then she opens and, to her utter surprise, she finds some 13 years old boys and girls saying: “trick or treat!”. And there it is, the unavoidable end of poor Mrs Anastasia Leadbottom; at least if we listen to Democrats.

Mind, I am not complaining. In fact, I think that this is a good development. This darn Halloween is a pagan cult which, under the excuse of “fun”, heavily distracts from the important Christian and, in particular, Catholic week: the last Sunday in October is the Feast of Christ the King according to the right calendar, then we have All Saints and All Souls immediately after this Halloween stuff. Halloween is a problem firstly, because it insinuates in the mind of the young a pagan ritual without any vestige of Christianity; and secondly, because it makes it more difficult for Catholic parents to direct the attention of their children to the proper priorities in those days.

Therefore, it seems that one evil movement (the Scamdemic) is contributing to pushing away another evil movement (the Halloween craze, now also present in Europe).

As they say this side of the Pond: every little helps!

And here is Yours Truly wanting to write some short reflections about the feast of Christ the King, and comparing the Rex tremendae majestatis with the spiritual heroin of our times, the “religion of mercy”, of which Francis is pusher Numero Uno. 

But why invest all the time, when Father Z already said it so well? 

This feast reminds us that the Lord Jesus is indeed coming and that He will not come as “friend” or “brother” or “gentle shepherd” with hugs and a fluffy lamb on His shoulders.

Do not be deceived by the Lamb. 

Remember the King.

New Consistory Imminent After All?

The rumours are more and more frequent on the blogosphere and it would seem that a new consistory is imminent.

As the date of the appointment would be the Feast of Christ The King, which falls on the 21st November, and as it is the usual praxis to announce the names one months in advance of the official appointment it would seem that within a few days we’ll have the name of the new red hats.

Whilst one does not doubt that unpleasant names will be inserted in the list (I think here in particular of His Disgrace Vincent “Quisling” Nichols, often the object of less than pleased entries on this blog), there is reason to hope that this new batch of Cardinals will, on the whole, give us conservative Catholics added security that the successor of Benedict will be a step forward; or at the very least, not one backwards.

Besides the unavoidable disappointment here and there (Benedict has already disappointed more than once in his UK appointments and he is obviously not willing to risk an open confrontation with the clergy of England & Wales) it will be nice to examine the new candidates one by one and try to assess how much the new appointments shift the average toward the conservative side. I am also glad that this consistory finally arrives as – always speaking in general- the more Cardinals of Benedictine appointment there are, the better it is.

But we still don’t know and we’ll have to bear some uncertainty for a couple of days.

As I think Pope Benedict would say: Abwarten, und Tee trinken…
