The Enemies’ Pope

Francis' idea of popularity: Juan Domingo Peron.

For a long time this little effort has been saying, together with other littler and less little efforts, that Francis' is a Papacy that serves the enemies of the Church.

Slowly, what used to be considered the fixation of a tiny minority of cranks – not that we are, of course; but the Cafeteria troops loved to characterise us in that way – is becoming more and more mainstream.

One of those more attentive to what is happening, and among the most outspoken among the prudent, diplomatic mainstream media continues to be Sandro Magister.

The last article appeared on “Chiesa” has a devastating, even mockingly ironic title: “Francis, the First Pope Lauded by Secular Opinion”.

Now, in Italy it is often not the author who picks the title but the titolista, a man whose job is to write headlines that entice the reader without – hopefully – betraying the article's content. In this case, the titolista is pretty accurate, though, then I am curious to see who will, whilst in a sober state, dare to deny the authenticity of these telling words.

The article isn't much different, though it cannot be called equally excoriating. It is very clear that Francis' policy is more attractive to the world than to Catholics, and that it can be safely said the more orthodox Catholics love a Pope, the more the world will hate him. Seeing in this way, Francis popularity in the world is a clear – if unspoken – accusation of the fundamental betrayal of Church values his “line” represents.

Yes, the piece is not a frontal attack to the Bishop of Rome. This is not the way the Italian mainstream press works; and you will notice that in the end Magister gives Francis the usual lip tribute, by noticing that he mistrusts his own popularity; though Magister also does not hide from us that Francis mentions Freud as he so does. As the Italian says, intelligenti pauca.

In the years to come, more and more among the mainstream will wake up to the reality of an utterly catastrophic Pope. Hopefully, in time this will spread enough to taint the image of the “great Franciscan Pope”. As the man is mainly moved by his own vanity and search for approval, widespread opposition – or mockery and ridicule if needs be; then a Pope who makes a mockery of the Papacy should be mocked out of love for the Papacy – might be the only thing short of Divine intervention that leads him to be a pale imitation of a Catholic Pope.

  1. As I read this post I feel the hurt that you have over what is going on. Always know that you are a beacon of light to those who seek truth….and you provide a place of sanity for kindred souls to visit. As always…keep up the good work my friend.

I recall reading somewhere that John XXIII was also lauded by public opinion upon his election. However, I believe that statement was in a sedevacantist article which claimed that Cardinal Siri was first elected in 1958, not Roncalli, but that Siri withdrew after certain threats were made (this being, I suppose, the basis for the SV claim that the last valid Papacy was Pius XII).

  3. I don’t envy Sandro Magister at all . It’s tough to work for a leftist and clearly atheist publishing house like Espresso -Repubblica and to be a good , honest and well informed Vaticanist with a good theological knowledge . He looks like either a devout Catholic , moreover a traditionalist-leaning one , or a convinced cultural Christian , but he defies every clear definition. A very anomalous character in Italy ,where each journalist works exclusively for his ‘parish’. Many observers are pretty sure that ‘ Scalfari and friends ‘ in Magister’s first years at l’Espresso tried to use him as the classical lark-mirror , but they never really reached their gol. Thirty years have passed , and he was never fired , nor he wanted to work for other magazines . Very strange. Sure , he often has to pay the customary lip service , but he is very good at paying just a minimal , almost symbolic price, with a few notable exceptions . He’s an authentic white fly in our landscape. Everybody can understand his opinion about the Bishop of Rome by reading , as it’s customary among Vaticanists, ‘between the lines’ .A titolista for his articles isn’t really needed. However , I’d like very much to know his most personal opinions about Francis and the Church . I think he considers him amusing and ,to a certain extent , funny. But thirty years of experience suggest Magister that these are the hardest times for the Church he has ever lived, and that the Commander in Chief is extremely dangerous , much more dangerous than Peron ever was for Argentina.

  4. That picture of Peron is most appropriate. according to that book I mentioned in an earlier post, Francis, according to the authors was very supportive of Peronism, even wearing Pronist emblems on his clothes when he went to school.

  5. There was a Nashville Dominican sister who gave a talk at a Catholic High School in Charlotte, NC and she spoke the truths of the faith and they are all in an uproar! I think I read that they got 2000 complaints (how could that happen?). And they noted that the Pope said not to concentrate on such things as abortion and homosexuality so how dare this nun call those things sin.

Actually, Francis is a clone planted by the same evil lizards that control the UN, NATO, the EU, CNN and MTV. Their goal is to make the Church a “nicer”, gayer, happier, hipper place.

But seriously, there is something entirely alien about the man. Anyone with a trace of sensus Catholicus knows he’s not one of us. We have a pod person in a white cassock (not sure how the announcement would be in Latin: “Habemus…!”).
The modern world has the thoroughly modern pope it deserves. We’ll get a decent one when we learn to become proper human beings again.

PS: Nice picture of Francis’ confirmation saint!
